How it started
Yurple the Clown’s story began in 1990 when her church hosted a family picnic and needed clowns. Her friend was organizing the event but couldn't find anyone willing to don the costume. Hearing this, Yurple saw her chance and leapt at the opportunity. Determined to make a memorable debut, she insisted on a full transformation with vibrant makeup and a real clown costume. When she looked in the mirror for the first time, Yurple didn’t even recognize herself—a new character had truly come to life.
That day, Yurple brought joy and laughter to families, fully embracing the clown persona. After the picnic, she was approached by guests who asked if she’d perform at their children’s birthday parties. Realizing that clowning could be more than just a one-time event, Yurple decided to take a leap.
She soon trained at the renowned Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in Florida, where she chose her name, inspired by her love for purple. With her new skills and persona, Yurple began performing at birthday parties. Before long, she was booked by an entertainment agency, taking her from small gatherings to over 400 events a year. Yurple had become a beloved performer, bringing her unique blend of humor and heart to audiences everywhere.
